We are looking for a Research & Development Engineer to join High Voltage GIS (Gas insulated switchgear) R&D team. The candidate will assume a technical lead role in design & development of various modules/sub-systems of high voltage GIS viz. circuit breaker, disconnector, earthing switch, bus bar / bus duct, structure etc. The candidate shall be able to demonstrate a strong mechanical/electrical design & development background combined with excellent analytical skills and hands-on experience with state-of-the-art design techniques.

Your Responsibilities
  • Performing feasibility study to create base design as a foundation for decision in the feasibility study phase of a project.
  • Designing & detailing of various modules/sub-systems of high voltage GIS (Circuit breaker, disconnector, bus bar/bus duct, earthing switch, structure).
  • Performing mechanical (static & dynamic), dielectric & electro-magnetic calculation.
  • Designing documentation (Development report, analysis report, assembly & test instruction, test specification etc.).
  • Performing DFMEA, DFM, DFA, DFSS, DOE, PPAP etc.
  • Performing root cause analysis, 8D.
  • Prototyping & testing of GIS modules.
  • Coordination with various cross functional stakeholders.

Your background
  • A B.Tech./M.Tech. (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • Design & development of high voltage SF6 switchgear (4 to 8 years)
  • Hands-on experience on mechanism design & simulation
  • Sound knowledge of high voltage GIS modules and bay
  • Adept in project management, agile approach and methodology
  • Working knowledge of IEC standards and type testing of switchgear
  • Hands-on experience in FEA tools – Ansys and Creo Simulate
  • Hands-on experience of dielectric & electro-magnetic calculation using FEA tools (Flux, Coulomb)
  • Working knowledge of design process/quality tools like DFMEA, DFM, DFA, DFSS, DOE etc.
  • Hands-on experience of 3D model/PLM tool like Creo 4.0 ,PDM Link and SAP
  • Hands-on experience of drawing, BOM, GD&T, tolerance stack up analysis
  • Manufacturing knowledge (casting, machining, forging, welding, bending, injection molding etc.)
  • Knowledge of Material and its related standards (ISO, DIN, IS)
