Your Role and Responsibilities
As Mainframe Storage Specialist, you are responsible to provide technical support with high degree of Customer Happiness by meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA) and process compliance. You will perform business impact analysis and risk assessments to reduce the likelihood of significant service outage or disasters.

  • Adopt the given technology to meet the drift of customer and business requirements
  • Storage box data migration (DASD to DASD and Tape to tape) and Storage replication
  • Analyze and research options for collaborates with exiting external systems
  • Root Cause Analysis preparation and meeting Service level agreement for submission
  • Develop, document and maintain procedures for system utilities such as backup/restore, performance tuning and configuration of environments as well as incremental backups as required
  • Initialize / add new DASD volumes and Add new tape volumes. Perform the space management activities such as VTOC resizing, Defrag, Compress/Reclaim/Release/Cleaning of datasets
  • Manage and Define SMS rules and ACS routines along with reorganization of storage dataset (RMM/HSM CDS & Catalog file)
  • Disaster recovery planning and performing the recovery test (Tape recovery / DASD Replication / Tape Replication) and Managing the Copy services / GDPS
  • Problem determination and resolution within expected time frame
  • Assume personal responsibility for resolving problems in most effective way possible within SLA reaching root cause and preventing problems
  • Lead daily Operations meetings provided there are no P1 incidents running
  • Aid with identifying problem management trends

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in Mainframe Storage Administration environment with work management, user management, journal management and performance management
  • Proven knowledge on tune performance and ensure high availability of infrastructure
  • Expertise in Storage hardware subsystems including IBM DASD (DS8K), IBM Automated tape library and IBM Virtual tape library (TS7700/TS7720/TS7740/TS7760)
  • Proficient in technologies like P2V, V2V and P2P migrations
  • Experience in EMC’s storage (VMAX and DLM) and Replication (SRDF) technologies
  • Recognize complex problems related to functional objectives. Analyze situations and implement solutions, or develop new system elements, procedures or processes and proven experience on BRMS, Tape management, ATL/VTL for Tape Libraries
  • Validated expertise on third party tools like Robot/TATTOOL

  • Proficient in working with high availability environment along with alignment to process (ITIL)

  • Intuitive individual with an ability to manage change and proven time management
  • Proven interpersonal skills while contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Up-to-date technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications
