Job Description


In this role the Lead Engineer actively participate in New Part Selection & Approval, Obsolescence Health Reviews, Obsolescence Management, Engineering Change Orders, Substitute analysis on Redesign programs, PCN Alert Management and Environmental Compliance

Position: Lead Engineer (P2)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Expertise and skills on electronic component manufacturers, suppliers and distributors, electronic component families, Basic electronics, gather component information from manufacturer web site for off-the-shelf components, compare the specifications of electronic components and gather obsolescence information from manufacturer, component lifecycle and obsolescence of electronic components, gather Year to End-Of Life (YTEOL), PCN, PDN, LTB, Availability, Lead time.
  • Expertise on Lead-Free terminology, Regulatory compliance (EU-RoHS, CH-RoHS, WEEE, etc…), electronic Component key parameters and characteristics, finding form fit functional, upgrade/downgrade alternates, create the Obsolescence Health Review Report/ Lifecycle Analysis Report, Manufacturers Migration History, Able to authorize Engineering Change Request/ Change Order in PLM/Team Centre, MIL, AECQ, AQEC and JEDEC STDs, GEIA-STD-0005-2 and iNEMI Standards for electronic components.
  • Verify components to ensure suitability identify high risk package styles, technologies and identify alternates to support the end application, understand MDDS (Material Declaration Data Sheet), FMD (Full Material Disclosure), perform Tin whisker analysis as per Raytheon algorithm.
  • Management of part alerts issued by manufacturer/Circuit Card Assemblers, alerts from obsolescence management tools on end of life, part status changes, quality, die/assembly change and alerts and various other alerts and disposition the same with a rationale and performs where used and communicates the same to project focal for further action.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3 to 6 years of Industry experience with experience in Obsolescence Management and Obsolescence tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication/ Electrical Electronics Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge on Electronic Components and it’s technical parameters.
  • IHS Parts Intelligence & BOM Intelligence tool
  • Silicon Expert BOM Manager tool
  • Agile and Team Center (PLM Tools)
  • MS Office: Excel, Excel Macros, Word
