Data Warehouse Developer-3

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

• Primarily responsible for working on various service requests related to maintaining database security (roles, privileges, authentication), creating schema and copying data
• Work on installation, configuration, creation and administration of MicroFocus Vertica database clusters and AWS RDS MySQL database .
• Work with platform, product and other support teams to participate in release and change management processes to implement new features/functions as well support mandatory patches or upgrade activities on weekends.
• Responsible for database performance tuning, query tuning and database operations including migration and upgrade.
• Plan and implement periodic upgrades of database schema and perform testing and verification of released database schema upgrades.
• Configure and manage database backup and restore, participate in Disaster Recovery
• Create and maintain documentation, procedures and best practice guides for database deployment and maintenance.

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent
• 4-6 years of overall IT Industry experience in Database administration / development /architecture.
• 2-3 years of hands-on extensive experience on Vertica database as a Database Administrator
• 1-2 years of experience in administering MySQL database is a plus.
• Thorough understanding and significant experience of Vertica database clustering, scalability , database backup and recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, data manipulation and migration and security.
• Experience in administration and maintenance in distributed environments with Clustering configuration, setup and maintenance.
• Strong technical knowledge of database architecture, data storage and management principles, with experience using related technologies.
• Experience with High Availability architectures
• Prior experience in understanding and developing automation using (Python / Perl / Ruby / Shell Scripting) is a plus.
• Ability to proactively and effectively communicate and influence stakeholders.
• Experience in virtual, cross functional team work.
• Strong customer and service management focus and mindset.
• Demonstrate initiative and pro-activeness in identifying problem areas and opportunities proactively and develop and execute pragmatic plans within timelines and budget.
• Solid and technical hands-on approach to problem solving.
• General understanding of AWS Cloud, Redshift or any other Cloud data warehouse concepts
• Experience working with cross-geography stakeholders is a plus.
